What is Tapping?
EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) or "Tapping" is a method of tapping with your fingertips on a series of energy points (acupressure points) on your body, while focusing on a specific feeling, problem, painful thought, or upsetting memory, in order to diminish that negative feeling or memory and let it go for good.
EFT Tapping is an Energy Psychology technique that works on a physio-energetic level in order to allow the nervous system to release or neutralize a thought, feeling, or physical sensation that may have been difficult or even impossible to change or let go of using typical approaches. EFT can also be used to then reframe or install a new positive thought or belief -- although in most cases, this cognitive shift happens naturally and automatically when the traumatic memory is diminished completely along with the emotions and beliefs that were connected to that traumatic experience.
As of 2021, there were more than 120 peer-reviewed published studies on EFT showing very positive benefits for a variety of issues. EFT works. This is NOT pseudo science!
Eastern healing methods like acupuncture have been used for thousands of years for physical and emotional healing and wellness. EFT is like "acupuncture for the emotional body."
Tapping is revolutionizing the field of Psychology and Coaching. By working with the energy field, both mental/emotional and even somatic issues often clear very quickly, in ways that may have seemed impossible with traditional coaching or counseling.
Thoughts and beliefs are very powerful and your experience of life is determined by them. Pleasures, pains, successes and failures, all are based on thoughts and expectations. Our emotions are thoughts are intimately connected. EFT works on a somatic level -- down-regulating the nervous system and turning off the fight/flight/freeze response. Even as infants we feel powerful emotions, before we've developed any intellectual understanding, words or knowledge. We feel fear, anger, sadness, joy, love, disgust, and these feelings are innate and natural to our human design. Our beliefs simply develop from these emotional experiences as we become conditioned by our environment, building negative expectations and assuming that we are responsible for people and events which have nothing to do with us.
Tapping can influence both the emotional triggers, as well as reprogram our subconscious thoughts and assumptions - freeing the mind from this state of emotional reactivity and self-limiting beliefs.
"Your nature is the consciousness,
in which the whole world wells up,
like waves in the sea.
That is what you are,
without any doubt,
so be free of disturbance. "
